CAN's Story

The Center of Applied Neuroscience (CAN) is a State-approved Research Center in the School of Social Sciences and Education at the University of Cyprus.

CAN’s inception was realized through competitive funding from the Cyprus Research and Innovation Foundation, for the development of critical research infrastructures. This financial support was granted to the proposal titled “Applied Neuroscience and Neurobehavioral Research Center (ANNR)” in November 2010.

Building on this foundation, the University of Cyprus (UCY) officially established the
Center for Applied Neuroscience in 2011.

Subsequently, recognizing its significance and impact, the House of Representatives of the Republic of Cyprus established CAN as an independent research center within the University of Cyprus in 2013. This official endorsement solidified CAN’s standing as a recognized and integral part of the academic and research landscape, marking a significant milestone in its evolution.
